June 8th, 2017

The University of Nottingham has been ranked amongst the top universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings.

In the 2018 results, Nottingham is placed joint 84th and among the top one per cent of global universities. Domestically, the University is listed 15th out of just 76 UK universities included in the table.

The most recent rankings particularly emphasise Nottingham’s employer reputation which is 69th in the world.

The University is consistently named as one of the most targeted institutions by leading graduate employers and was also named as University of the Year for Graduate Employment in the 2017 Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide

The University’s academic reputation and international population also accounted for the strong positioning.

Dr Paul Greatrix, Registrar at the University of Nottingham said ‘The latest QS league table confirms our status as a world-leading, globally connected, university.

“Our employer reputation, ranked 69th in the world, alongside our academic reputation, demonstrates the full-rounded experience we provide for our students. We unlock potential and encourage students and staff to transform the world around them.

“Of course, there is always room for improvement. It is interesting to see that of the 76 UK universities included in the ranking 51 have seen a drop compared with last year’s rankings although many have recorded improved scores for Employer Reputation. We are confident Nottingham’s continued investment in teaching, research (through initiatives such as our Beacons of Excellence) and graduate employment will future-proof our world-leading reputation.”

The QS World University Rankings have been published since 2004, taking into account academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, student to faculty ratio, international faculty and international student numbers.

This year’s table provides insight into the world’s top 959 universities and uses the expert opinion of 75,015 academics and 40.455 employers. View Nottingham’s full report.
