Online course for postgraduate students

September 26th, 2016

On Course for Your Masters is a Nottingham Open Online Course (NOOC) developed by Libraries, Research and Learning Resources for all taught postgraduate students.

It has been designed to support your transition to postgraduate study, particularly your engagement with the scholarly resources you need to succeed in your studies, and your preparation for what comes next whether it be employment or postgraduate research.  You’ll meet students from across the University’s wide range of disciplines, on our campuses in the UK, China and Malaysia, as well as those studying at a distance from all around the world.

The course is designed for you to follow at your own pace at a time that suits you.  You will interact with each other as you share your learning on course, and you will be supported by a team of facilitators across the three international campuses including some friendly and experienced postgraduate researchers who have very recently been in your shoes… and succeeded!

Live chat sessions will be run regularly, and certificates of completion will be provided to all of you who complete the specified activities for each of the eight units:

  • Stepping up a Level
  • Introducing Resource Discovery
  • Resources: Theme and Variations
  • Mechanics of Search
  • Language of Search
  • Critical Appraisal
  • Referencing
  • Stepping Out

Log in to Moodle and sign up for the course – you will need to complete your online registration before you can join the course.
