Restricted access through Portland Building

October 25th, 2017

Please note that there will be restricted access through Portland Building while refurbishment works continue.

From Thursday 26 October until Wednesday 15 November there will be no access through to Spar and Boots from the East Drive entrance. The stairs down to level A (opposite the Accommodation Office and leading to the back of Mooch) will also be closed during this period.

Access to Spar and Boots will still be available via C floor and the main stairwell and lift.

East Drive entrance will reopen providing access to the B floor corridors and the stairs up to C floor. A floor will be accessible by the entrance between The Studio and Mooch – staff and students will be able to access the rest of A floor by walking through Mooch.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works and will endeavour to complete them quicker than the allotted time.

So longer than two weeks since the start of this update the work is still not finished. I rely on entering the Portland Building via the East Drive entrance adjacent to the Portland Coffee Company and expected the access to new PB to be open today! As I have limited mobility I have found it increasingly frustrating to enter and leave Portland Building on a flat level for many weeks. Why have none of the refurbishments jobs in PB been completed on time?

Hi Kate. Thanks for querying this and apologies again for the inconvenience caused by these works. Your question has been passed back to the project team and they have confirmed that the work on the Portland East Drive entrance is on track to be completed by Thursday 16 November. Kind regards – Rebecca
