Research Roadshows: our ambitious vision to transform the world

A series of research roadshows recently unveiled the University’s Research Vision and acknowledged the contributions of researchers and support staff in an exciting new chapter in the University’s history.

Staff heard from Professor Dame Jessica Corner, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange, at roadshows across our three campuses to outline What our Research Vision means for you.

Dame Jessica acknowledged the dedication of researchers and support staff for their ongoing commitment as she outlined the University’s Research Vision, and detailed how this will support and develop our world-class researchers including unlocking and developing potential in people, infrastructure and digital systems.

The audience also heard from the directors of our six new Beacons of Excellence, who will champion the University’s transdisciplinary responses to some of today’s global challenges.

Some of the questions put to Dame Jessica and her colleagues included:

  • how is the Research Vision being funded?
  • how will Research Priority Areas and research hubs engage with the beacons?
  • how will we inspire, measure and evaluate researchers?

These and other questions are addressed on the dedicated Research Vision pages on Workspace.

Here you’ll also find regularly updated information on the University’s investment in research, and details of where to go for support and information. More roadshows across our campuses will follow, with further opportunities to help develop and contribute to our Research Vision.

The University’s Research Vision and investment will be officially unveiled on Thursday 22 June at The Royal Society in London.
