National Student Survey 2018 – shape the future

January 10th, 2018

Final year undergraduate students will be invited to complete the National Student Survey (NSS) from Thursday 1 February. This offers them the opportunity to provide anonymous feedback about their experience at the University of Nottingham.

The NSS is now open and we will begin promoting it to students from Monday 29 January, after the exam period. They will not be contacted by the survey organisers – Ipsos MORI – until Thursday 1 February. The survey will then be available to complete until Monday 30 April. Members of schools/departments who are usually involved in promoting the NSS locally have already been contacted about this year’s communications campaign. If you were expecting to be contacted and have not yet heard anything, please email studentcommsoffice@nottingham.ac.uk.

We ask for the support of all staff in encouraging eligible final year students to complete the NSS. Please note that students should absolutely not be influenced on their responses. Contacts in schools/departments will shortly be sharing materials that staff can use to help encourage students to complete the NSS.

What is the National Student Survey?

The NSS is an annual survey that has been running since 2005. It’s made up of 27 questions, covering course teaching, assessment and feedback, academic support, learning resources, the Students’ Union and overall satisfaction. Responses are entirely anonymous.

What difference does it make?

Student feedback makes a huge difference to life at UoN. It lets us know what we’re getting right but, more importantly, it enables us to identify areas for improvement. The feedback is also published on the Unistats website, helping prospective students to make an informed decision when choosing the right course and university for them. Visit our NSS pages to find out more.

How long does it take?

It only takes 10 minutes to complete the survey and improve the experience at Nottingham for years to come. The survey consists primarily of single choice questions but does give the opportunity to leave open-ended comments.

When is the deadline?

The deadline for filling in the NSS is Monday 30 April.
